Charlottetown Doors

In early September, after depositing Number One son off at university in New Brunswick, we treated ourselves to a quick trip to Prince Edward Island. You know, as we were driving by anyway.

We could just manage an overnight visit and a brisk walk around Downtown Charlottetown in the morning before we were forced to head home.

But boy-o-boy, that town boasts some pretty doors …. even on cool, windy, grey morning.

The doors and houses are all wonderful, Janet. I especially like that last set.

You weren’t kidding about the pretty doors! I really liked the first one – there is a lot of work that went into all that red detailing which is also on the windows. It’s a little pop of *wow*.

You can never get too much PEI!! (In my humble opinion). ☺️

How lovely. We’ve just bought flights from Australia to Canada for next July to visit our daughter in Toronto. PEI is on our wish list.

That’s wonderful! Do try to get to PEI (it’s lovely). And come to Nova Scotia, too, if you can.

      • the eternal traveller October 21, 2017 / 2:29 am

That’s our plan. We have to work out an itinerary and mode of transport now. Everyone we know who’s been to Nova Scotia tells us how lovely it is.

Excellent!! I’ll stay tuned to learn more about your plans. (If you come to NS, come to Lunenburg… )

I need to begin some research. One of our options is to hire a motorvan/campervan and stay in campgrounds and do a circuit. I’m more keen on that idea than Mr ET though.

Ha! That sounds like exactly the same formula as fits Mr R and I. I hope you get the camper van. 😉

Oh, so sorry to have missed Charlottetown! We were on a cruise recently with a scheduled stop there, but unfortunately the winds were so strong that we were not allowed to go under the bridge to enter the port. So we had to skip PEI altogether! 😦 Perhaps my husband and I can make a road trip up there in the future!

That’s too bad. Winds were very evident the days we were there too. Maybe it was the same weekend? Do add PEI to your list. It’s always worth a visit. Long or short. 😁

that town does have some great door s- my fav of this post was the second one – so lovely with the floral wreath – pillars and your angle 🙂

    • JanetRimmington October 21, 2017 / 11:29 am

Thank you ☺️. The door you mentioned is attached to a house situated directly on the waterfront. A blend of regal city home and country estate.

My parents lived in Charlottetown for a number of years and I always enjoyed our visits. The whole of PEI was a fascination…

I agree with you, Galen. PEI is a very specialty and intriguing island. Always worth a visit.
